Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated:

OMG! Brews Games is the public name of Ontario Microbrewed Games, Inc. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean that company. This policy explains how our current games handle personal information and how to contact us about your privacy.

Summary

  • Our games do not all handle information in the same way.
  • Plunk! the marble game currently declares on Google Play that it does not collect or share user data.
  • Lost for Words and Asteroid Treasure Hunter currently declare on Google Play that they collect app activity, app information and performance, and device or other identifiers, and may share device or other identifiers.
  • Lost for Words currently declares on the Apple App Store that identifiers may be used for tracking and that identifiers, advertising data, product interaction, crash data, and performance data may be collected without being linked to your identity.
  • You can contact our Privacy Lead to ask about your information, request access or correction, withdraw consent, or request deletion.

Store disclosures and in-app notices provide additional details for a particular app, platform, region, or consent choice. If an in-app notice gives you a choice, we use the information covered by that notice in accordance with the choice you make.

Scope

This policy covers these currently distributed games:

  • Lost for Words on Google Play and the Apple App Store;
  • Plunk! the marble game on Google Play; and
  • Asteroid Treasure Hunter on Google Play.

It also covers older editions distributed through Apple, Google, or Amazon while we continue to receive or control personal information from those editions. The app stores process purchases and some platform data under their own privacy policies.

Information Collection and Use

Depending on the game, platform, version, region, and choices you make, our games or their third-party components may handle the following categories of information:

  • Device and other identifiers: identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID, Apple Identifier for Advertisers when access is permitted, and identifiers generated by a platform or service provider.
  • App activity and advertising data: interactions with the game or an advertisement, advertising impressions, and related measurement information.
  • App and diagnostic information: app and operating-system version, device type, configuration, crash data, performance data, timestamps, and technical error information.
  • Network information: an Internet Protocol address and information generated when the app communicates with a platform or service provider.
  • Support communications: your email address, message, and any information you choose to include when you contact us.
  • Purchase and platform information: product, transaction, entitlement, or restoration information supplied by an app store. The store, rather than OMG! Brews Games, handles your payment-card details.

We use information only for purposes that are appropriate in the circumstances, including:

  • providing game, purchase, achievement, and other requested features;
  • responding to support requests;
  • showing and measuring advertising where the game includes it;
  • understanding feature use and improving gameplay;
  • diagnosing crashes, performance problems, fraud, and security issues; and
  • complying with law and protecting our users, company, and legal rights.

Advertising and Tracking

Some versions of our games are supported by advertising. Advertising providers may receive device identifiers, app activity, advertising data, network information, and general device information to deliver, limit, secure, and measure advertisements. Depending on your region and choices, advertisements may be contextual or personalized.

The Apple App Store disclosure for Lost for Words says that identifiers may be used to track activity across apps and websites owned by other companies. On supported Apple devices, access to the advertising identifier and tracking is controlled through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission. You can review or change that permission in your device’s privacy settings. Android also provides privacy controls for its advertising identifier and ad personalization; the available controls depend on your Android version and region.

Declining optional advertising or analytics consent does not prevent you from using paid functionality. It may result in less personalized advertising or limit optional measurement, but information strictly needed for security, purchases, or requested game functionality may still be processed.

Sharing and Service Providers

A provider may process information for us, provide an app-store or game platform, or use information for its own disclosed advertising or measurement purposes. The provider depends on the game, platform, version, and enabled features; inclusion below does not mean that every provider is present in every game.

We require providers that process personal information on our behalf to protect it appropriately. Other providers, including app stores and some advertising services, may determine aspects of their own processing under their published terms and privacy policies.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request; investigate wrongdoing; protect the safety of users or the public; protect our rights or property; or manage a sale, reorganization, or other business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

International Processing

We are based in Canada, but app stores and advertising, analytics, attribution, and diagnostics providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they or their service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those in your home jurisdiction, and information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or national-security authorities under local law.

We remain accountable under applicable Canadian privacy law for personal information transferred to a provider for processing on our behalf. We use contractual or other reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the provider’s role.

Retention and Deletion

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including providing support or requested features, maintaining security and transaction records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal, tax, or accounting obligations. The period depends on the information, why it was collected, whether it can be associated with a particular user, and the provider that holds it.

When information is no longer required, we delete or anonymize information under our control and require service providers acting on our behalf to do the same, subject to legal obligations and ordinary backup cycles. App stores and providers acting for their own purposes apply their own retention policies.

You may request deletion by emailing our Privacy Lead. We will explain the result of the request, including if we cannot identify provider-held data as yours or must retain particular records. Deleting an app from your device does not necessarily delete information already processed by an app store or third-party provider.

Your Choices and Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:

  • tell you whether we hold personal information about you;
  • give you access to that information and an account of its use or disclosure;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw consent for future processing, subject to legal or contractual limits;
  • delete information we no longer need or are not required to keep; or
  • review and respond to a concern about our privacy practices.

Email our Privacy Lead with the game, platform, and request. We may need enough information to verify your identity and locate relevant records, but we will not ask for more than is reasonably necessary. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful limit on access, correction, withdrawal, or deletion.

You may also use device and in-app permission controls. Withdrawing a permission does not undo processing that lawfully occurred before the withdrawal. If information is necessary for a requested feature, that feature may no longer work after consent is withdrawn.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and contractual safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity and amount of personal information under our control. These include limiting access and using secure transmission where the app or provider supports it. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Our games are offered to a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. An app store’s content rating describes content suitability and does not change that intended audience. We do not knowingly ask a child under 13 to provide personal information directly to us without any consent required from a parent or guardian.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact our Privacy Lead. We will investigate and delete information under our control, or ask a service provider acting for us to delete it, where required. Parents and guardians may also use the device, app-store, and advertising controls available on the child’s device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our games, providers, or legal obligations change. We will update the date at the top. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice through an app, store listing, or other appropriate channel and request new consent when required by law.
